Digital Nomads in Croatia

You have probably already heard that some countries have decided to make a change in tourism due to the consequences of the COVID-19 virus infection. The same consequences have transformed the way people do their jobs, in a way that a lot of people started working from home, in a remote way. It was this fact that made it possible for people to work not only from home, but, in fact, from anywhere in the world.

Croatia officially offers a temporary stay to digital nomads from January 1, 2021, or colloquially called “digital nomadic visa”. The introduction of this permit adds a completely new option for both EU and non-EU citizens to live in Croatia for the long term.

As the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia states: “A Digital Nomad is a third-country national who is employed or performs work through communication technology for a company or his own company that is not registered in the Republic of Croatia and does not perform work or provide services to employers in the Republic of Croatia.”

“Temporary stay is granted for up to a year (possibly even less) and it cannot be extended. A new application for regulating a stay of digital nomads can be submitted 6 months after the expiry of the previously granted temporary stay of digital nomads.”

If you want to find out more, or apply for a temporary residence, visit the Ministry’s website, and read all about the application itself, possibilities, documentation, costs, and registration.
